Elf on the Shelf Card

An old favorite revived, "Elf on the Shelf!"

I did not grow up with this Christmas folk tale but some of my friends did. Personally I think the little doll itself is creepy but hey it works for the kids and that's what matters at this time of year. This image is from the new kit released from SVGCuts, Santa's Helpful Elves.

I sponged the edges of the card to give it dimension and I embossed his hat brim with snowflakes and his hair with swiss dots. Pop dotted his nose and hat turnover for a 2-D raised effect. I coming near to the end of my stash of SU Blush Blossom where to this day I still have not found a CS in flesh tone as well as this one was, I wish Stampin! Up would un-retire it.

It's been a long time since I last posted, so I hope you enjoy viewing this card and happy crafting!
Cheers,

Roughrider Birthday

I made this card back in March of 2011 you can view the original post here. But I new I wanted to make another for my Papa Robert who's big 6-0 is coming up here in August. Now this isn't my real Papa (I've been one of those adopted into the family kind of kids) but he does a lot for me and if I ever needed anything Papa would surely help me with it.

I cut the card base out of SU! Chocolate Chip, then put the layered images of the football through the Cuttlebug machine with the tiny bubbles embossing folder to give it the texture of a football. I then colored my little football player and layered him with dimensionals. I then placed the sentiment on like a waving flag.

In the province that I live in Saskatchewan, CFL football is our big sport. So I made this little boy a "RoughRider" and added some of the team logo to the front of his jersey. Don't you agree the referee pooch displaying 'touchdown' is so appropriated!

Thanks for stopping by :)

Baby Safari Card

Oh my so many babies I just can't keep up with all of my friends. But I did have one friend in mind when I made this card. I'm sure she will love it when she receives it :)

I cut the zebra, monkey, and palm tree all from the Create a Critter cartridge. For the palm leaves, I embossed them with the CB Swiss Dots embossing folder to give them some texture and inked the edges so they didn't look so flat on the card.

I popped dotted the zebra because their always needs to be something pop dotted when I make a card. I took my distressing tool and distressed the edges of the background layer and it gave the card a nice edged effect.

Butterfly LeverCard

I love how this card looks, but oh my it was a bit a work to put together. All together I used 7 different patterned sheets of paper. Almost everything is on one layer except for the pink flowers, I sponged there edges to give them a depth effect and pop dotted them to give them dimension. The butterfly on the front looks like it is in flight, the lever part of this card is a really cool effect.

Butterfly Card

Here is a simple but elegant Thinking of You card!

It's been a long time since I did a color challenge so I thought I'd use it for this card. The butterfly silhouette is from the Everyday Pop-Up Cards Cricut cartridge and like always I pop-dotted it because I love that raised effect. Too bad you cant see it on the daisies but I did add clear glitter pen to the flowers it made them look so pretty.

Birthday Flowers

Hi there,
Back again with another card to show off, I *CASE'D this card from It's a Stamp Thing. What really caught my eye was how well the Elegant Lines embossing folder went with the stamped image from the Bordering on Romance Set. I did do a few things differently like the color of paper and I used baker's twine instead of ribbon. Also the direction of the image and added I a tiny little butterfly in the top corner. Unfortunately the photograph made the coral look much more orangery than it really is.

Thanks for visiting,

Twins 1st Birthday

Hi Everyone, hurray it's TGIF! And here is a project I've been working on for twin boys Owen and Hudson's 1st Birthday. There theme is Sesame Street and there favorite character's are Elmo and Cookie Monster. Both of their faces are on this invitation, one face on the front and one face on the back.

For some dimension I raised Elmo's nose with pop dots and Cookie Monster's eyes are pop dotted as well. I kept all the colors primary, true to what Sesame Street has been for years. I hope these invites are a big hit. I can't wait for the twins party at the end of June. Leave some love :)

Baby Pink Elephant

Hey everyone, Sorry I haven't posted anything in almost a month life has been so crazy busy. Where does the time go?!? I have been doing a bit of paper crafting but even that has been put to the back burner as well.

I needed to make a few baby cards as so many of my girlfriends are having lil' ones this spring and summer. I purchased this elephant template from PapertreyInk,  I pop dotted and embossed the ear and took an acetate embellishment and glued it to the snout to make it look like the elephant is spraying water. A very simple card but a card I think any 1st time Mommy would love to receive.

Happy Birthday Lil' Birdie

I really enjoy all the supplies that come out for Valentine's Day, everything is so cutesie. Not that red and pinks are my favorite colors because there not. But I had the motivation to sit down and color and I could not resist this new image from Tiddly Inks Wryn - New Nest.

I've been playing around coloring hair with my copics and I'm finding blonde is a challenge to color but I do like the end result for Wryn.

I used for the first time a sketch from the Clean and Simple Stamping Blog #174.

I then paper pierced the top portion of the card, and pop dotted it off of the base (I just love the effect it gives). I also pop dotted the main image that was cut from the largest label one spellbinders die. Gave the bottom designer paper a scalloped bordered edge and sewed the mini tag verse and button onto the ribbon with metallic thread.

My colors where chosen from the Color Throwdown Challenge for last week as well.

Thanks for stopping by this week,

I wanted to take part in the Ribbon Carousel Challenge this week, and that was to add anything like ribbon, bakers twine, jute twine, lace or thread. For this card I used orange baker's twine!
