Have a holly jolly Christmas

My craft room has been packed up since May & that means I have gone 8 months without crafting. So until the craft room is painted, I have been working on some of my digital scrap booking to pass the time and somewhat refresh my skills on using Adobe.

Here is a Christmas page of the newest addition to the condo, Diamond.

Year of 2010!

Since I have been on a 6 month sabbatical, I thought I should update you on all that has happened in this past year. For 1. The joy of looking for a home. 2. Purchasing my very first home & 3. Packing up my life and moving it all into my first home.

So what have I been doing the past 3 months, to start off I unpacked the main areas pretty much within the first two weeks. Then I started (but still have not finished) painting the kitchen, ahh the joys of painting by yourself. Enjoying the peace and quiet of having insulated walls, after apartment living for the last 12 years its very hard to de-sense yourself from hearing your neighbors do absolutely everything. I went all out for my house warming and was overwelmed by the appearance of so many guests that were able to make it for my little come and go.

To now which brings us too November. This past weekend I decided to put up the Christmas tree a couple weeks earlier than usually but hell why not. It's my 1st Christmas in my very first home and who cares anyways I don't get much for company and it's going to be me who looks at it every day now until December 25th anyways.

Unfortunately because my craft room has been boxed up since May I have not been able to make or do any crafts whatsoever related to my card making. So that means, no craft sale at all this year and your going to have to buy your Christmas cards from somewhere else this year. All in all I'm sure I'll be gearing to go to jump into the sales for 2011.

Thanks for stopping by,
I would like to wish everyone a healthy & joyous Holiday Season and all the best for the New Year!

Thank You

An interesting color combination on Splitcoaststampers this week, CC271 . I've been trying to incorporate in my cards lately more designer papers. As I buy them because they are pretty, but like many other paper crafters they are too pretty to use and get tucked away into our paper collections.

I have been enjoying the weekly Mojo Monday (139) Sketches. Here is another great one created by Julee Tilman.

Rose Wedding Invitations

The Paper Company's Metallic Crimson Red, Black Glitter & Bazzill's Glass Slipper were the colors of choice for these elegant wedding invitations that I was asked to make for my cousin who will be getting married in September 2010. I used StampinUp! Manhattan Flower embossing folder to create the embossed rose on the front. The verse was the bride and groom's personal choice.

This is a view of the inside;
The announcement and additional information were printed on linen paper to look more elegant then your typical copy paper. I learned using linen paper that it really absorbs ink and there is a slight shadow but there is no way bypassing it other then going into a commercial printer.

In total 165 invitations were made! I took pictures of some of the steps it took to complete the process.
These are the card bases, each one was individually cut from a piece of 12x12 card stock, scored and a pocket scored to be folded. Every invitation also received my custom stamped logo on the back.

Here are half of the invitation fronts. First the verse needed to be printed on the card stock then each one needed to be cut out. Then one by one all were cranked through the Cuttlebug machine using the SU! Manhattan Flower embossing folder.

Now onto my work area, one 6 foot table = 1 square foot workable area. {LOL} Shhh... I know there are others like me out there too you just won't admit it!
Thank God for Twilight & New Moon movies, I really do not know how many times I watched these movies while working on the invitations. I can not wait for Eclipse to be release now...LOL

The repetitiveness just about killed me, but all in all I am a perfectionist. They look awesome and I think they turned out great.

Three months later, and all the invitations are complete to the day of deadline.

Now would I consider doing this again... perhaps hopefully on a smaller scale, but I learned a lot on my first job at wedding invitations. Maybe the next attempt will be my own... (Rofl) ya right! Thanks for stopping by, your comments are always welcomed please post them below :) Krysta

First Wedding of the Year...

Congratulations
Adrienne & Kent

After searching for a while through some other blogs I think I finally got the hand of how everyone is making this pretty ribbon ruffle on there cards lately. {What do you think of my take at it?}
I made this card for a girlfriend that is getting married today who I worked with 10 years ago and it has probably been the same amount of time since we last saw each other.

This is the first time I have finished the inside of the card. Usually I don't like the looks of this done to cards but for this card I thought it would be appropriate to complete it as the little envelope contains my gift to the happy couple.

My Peeps

This chick character bag was a complete inspiration from Dream, Create, and Share Blog Tammy comes up with some fabulous tutorials. I really don't know how she does it but I love each and every one of them she designs.

This is my version, a little bit different than the original. I wanted mine to look more like a girlie peep, so I gave her regal rose cheeks and I had to get some lime green in there so I added a mini double looped bow. She is filled up with green Easter grass shred and Lindor chocolate eggs. Mmmm! Now the big decision is, "Who do I give it too?"

RECIPE
PAPER: SU Whisper White, Basic Black, So Saffron, Barely Banana
INK: SU Chocolate Chip & Regal Rose
RIBBON: 1/8" Lime Green
TOOLS: SU Full Heart, 1/8" 3/4" 1" Circle, Top Note Die Cut
SUPPLIES: Wire, Scor Tape, Glue Pen, Sponge

How Ewe doin?

Another great sketch for Mojo Monday designed by Julee Tilman. Once again I went into my collection of hoarded designer papers and this time I grabbed two sheets from my 'blue' container.

This was a free digital image from Whimsie Doodles; How Ewe doin? I've been getting pretty good at coloring with my Copics. On this card I watched a couple tutorials on coloring a fence with your copics. I'm finding I'm getting more of an idea as to what shades everyone is using to color different objects with than following them step-by-step.

Live, Laugh, Love

It's the first Monday of the new year 2010 and that mean's MOJO Monday. A very cool sketch designed by Teresa Kline a very talented paper crafter who's blog I just love to follow.

I pulled out some paper from pads that I have been hoarding. And as part of my 'Friendship Contract' goal for this year is... ~ too use what I already have~.

I have been in Valentine's mode for the last couple of weeks. I love seeing it, the cheesiness behind it & just plainly love it itself. Not that it is any help that I have been working in Christmas for that last 5+ months. Hence the joy of working in a craft store!!! But never the less it's time to move onto the next season :)

Winter Tree

Happy New Year 2010! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and welcomed in the New Year with great friends and family...

The new year brings us new goals and challenges and hopefully we can fulfill each and every one of them. And once again where I live we are in a deep freeze of -23C. with a windchill of -45C. A blizzard warning is in effect, what a stark way to start the new year!!!

A quick card using the SU! TopNote Die cut, I CASE'd this card from Gone INKognito. My version is a birthday card for a birthday in January. I love the colors that are in the SEI, Winter Song paper stack. You can never have enough turquoise! I have the feeling these are going to be big wedding colors for this year.
